Mr. Carl Ray Young

Bro. Carl Ray Young, 50 of Ruth, MS, peacefully passed away August 26, 2020 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Mr. Young was born January 23, 1970 in Pike County, MS to Mr. Julius Young and Mrs. Eunice Butler-Young. Carl Ray, affectionately known by many as “Ray”, joined Bogue Chitto Woods Missionary Baptist Church in Summit, MS at an early age. He graduated from North Pike High School in 1988. During his tenure as a student at North Pike, Carl Ray was a lettered member of the Jaguar’s football, basketball and track teams. He will be remembered as one of the most talented athletes to graduate from North Pike. After his high school graduation, Carl Ray attended Holmes Community College. He worked as an offshore supervisor for many years and later as a supervisor at Rex Lumber Yard in Brookhaven, MS. Carl Ray, the “knee baby” of the family, was preceded in death by his parents, Eunice Young Saffold and Julius Wayne Young; maternal grandparents, Eula (née Martin) and Alex Butler; paternal grandparents, Donis (née Magee) and Leon Young; and a nephew, George Brown, Jr. He leaves to cherish precious memories: his children Carlton Zachary Young of Memphis, TN; Casey Young of Nashville, TN; Jykaron Harvey of Hattiesburg, MS; Tykarian Harvey of San Antonio, TX and Tamyra Harvey of Hattiesburg, MS; one granddaughter Khloe Harvey of Hattiesburg, MS; ten siblings George Brown of McComb, MS; Shirley (Charles) Anderson Saulny of Ruth, MS; Leon Young of Ruth, MS; Julius (Dora) Young of Jayess, MS; Virgil Young of Ruth, MS; Johnny Young, Sr. of McComb, MS; Clifton (Glenda) Young of Summit, MS; Gregory Young of McComb, MS; Cassandra (James) Dennis and Sabrina (Gerald) Parker Richardson both of Brookhaven, MS; maternal aunt and uncle Frankey Butler Kinzy of McComb, MS and Tommy Butler, Sr. of Ruth, MS; a special friend Janice Brumfield of Summit, MS; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Public visitation walk through hour will be Friday evening at Craft Funeral Home from 5 PM until 6 PM. His graveside service will be held Saturday morning 11 AM at Craft Funeral Home in Mccomb, MS Rev. Robert Causey will officiate the service, with interment to follow in the cemetery.
