Mrs. Glenda Ruth Crawford

Glenda “Ruth” Jones Crawford, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024. She was 79 years old. Glenda was born on June 17, 1945, in Tylertown, Mississippi, to the late John Henry Jones and Tempie Lee McGee Jones. She was the oldest daughter of this loving family and was raised in Tylertown, where she accepted Christ as her Savior at St. James United Methodist Church at an early age. Glenda's life was marked by devotion to her faith, family, and community. She graduated in 1964 from J.J. Gulledge Memorial High School in Tylertown, MS, and furthered her education by attending YMCA Business School in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1965. On August 2, 1969, Glenda married Lloyd Crawford, with whom she shared more than 40 years of love and companionship. The couple made their home and raised their family in Kenner, LA, where Glenda became an active and dedicated member of Haven United Methodist Church. After relocating to New Orleans, Louisiana, she continued her spiritual journey by joining Haven Trinity United Methodist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Charles Washington. Glenda's unwavering faith sustained her throughout her life, and she remained an active participant in church and community events. In her later years, Glenda moved to Crosby, Texas, where she resided until her health declined. She was cherished by her family and friends for her nurturing spirit, warm heart, and infectious smile. Glenda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lloyd Crawford, as well as her parents, John Henry Jones and Tempie Lee McGee Jones. She leaves behind a loving legacy, including her daughter, Tempie Marie Crawford of Crosby, Texas; son, Lloyd Anthony Crawford of Baytown, Texas; and grandson, Lloyd Leon “Binky” Crawford of Cypress, Texas. Glenda is also survived by her sisters: Glenda Nell Kelly of Metairie, Louisiana; Thelmer Jones (Marvin) Norman of Dallas, Texas; and Aslean Jones Owens of Cedar Hill, Texas. She will be fondly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and a wide circle of devoted friends. Glenda's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and perseverance. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who take comfort in knowing that she is now resting in the presence of the Lord. A Funeral service to honor Glenda's life will be held at Craft-Ginn Funeral Chapel, 219 US - 98, Tylertown, MS 39667 on Saturday, November 23, 2024, with a Viewing at 9 am, and Service at 10 am.
